      Funeral services will be held today for Henry Rieder, who died here Friday after a lengthy illness. He was 72.

      Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Abraham and Yetta Rieder, he spent his childhood in Saint John, N.B., and came to Montreal in 1910.

      In 1928 he joined the law firm of Campbell, McMaster, Couture, Kerry and Bruneau with which he was associated until he took ill a few years ago.

      Mr. Rieder was widely known as an authority on taxation and estate planning.

      He was a nephew of the late Louis B. Mayer, president of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

      He is survived by his wife, the former Annette Shankman; a brother Joseph of Montreal; and three sisters, Bertha of Montreal and Ruth Kerman and Irene Holt of Los Angeles.

      The funeral will be at Paperman’s Funeral chapel at 2 p.m. today with interment at the Temple Emmanu-El cemetery on Mount Royal.
